THPF strives to increase participant skill level and / or incomes of families by providing access to specialized job training programs, employment opportunities, maximization of benefit programs, and related activities designed to maximize available resources. The program also provides a variety of specialized educational programs, workshops, use of community resources structured activities, and one-on-one case management meetings.
Who is Served:
- Families with one or more children under the age of 18 living with them.
- Families that are homeless and have been homeless two or more times within the past three years.
- Families that have experienced one or more of the following conditions: unemployment, family violence, substance abuse or evictions from housing.
Services provided:
- Educational services – life skills, parenting skills, problem solving skills, nutrition / food safety and preparation, stress management, workshops (poison control, AIDS prevention, first aid / CPR), GED tutoring, and employment preparation classes.
- Therapeutic services – intensive casework, substance abuse and co-dependency support groups, creative arts therapy, self-esteem groups, and referrals to mental health providers.
- Support services – advocacy, information and referral, assistance finding permanent housing, furniture acquisition, assistance with security deposits and follow-up services.
- Child Care services – after-school tutoring, child enrichment
programs, family activities (picnics, gardening, movie night),
socialization groups, Al Anon groups, recreational activities (including
camping, skiing), community activities (baseball games, state fair,
water world, zoo), and child development classes.
