Mi Casa Program for Former Foster Youth Expands
Homeless Housing Capacity by 80% in Concord

CONCORD, CA; SEPTEMBER 10, 2008:  Lutheran Social Services of Northern California is expanding its “Mi Casa” program with a second house, which will open officially on September 24.  The program currently houses six former foster youth who were homeless, but with the opening of “Mi Casa Too,” LSS will be able to give shelter and provide services to ten teens and young adults in Concord who were exited from the foster care system at age 18 and who have nowhere else to live.  Services, which include housing, health care, continuing education, life-skills, financial management and parenting classes, emotional and substance abuse counseling, and job assistance, can continue until a participant turns 24.

“Mi Casa” is one of seven programs serving homeless former foster youth administered by Lutheran Social Services of Northern California, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with offices in Concord, Stockton, Sacramento, and San Francisco.
